Dickson Constant SAS, France

Dickson Constant is one of the leading manufacturers of technical textiles in Europe and at the same time one of the most traditional textile companies in France. Since the 19th century, the name Dickson has stood for high-quality functional fabrics, particularly in the fields of sun and weather protection, upholstery fabrics and technical applications for indoor and outdoor use. Today, the company is internationally networked and part of the Glen Raven Group – a globally operating specialist in outdoor textiles. With a strong focus on innovation, design and customer proximity, Dickson Constant develops textile solutions that are used worldwide across numerous industries.

Laser test: INFINITY and MAX

Laser cutting of acrylic-based sun protection fabrics

Material

INFINITY and MAX are high-quality, solution-dyed acrylic fabrics that were specially developed for use in sun protection applications. Thanks to special coatings, they are dirt- and water-repellent, UV- and heat-resistant, and particularly durable, tear-resistant and dimensionally stable. Typical applications include awnings, parasols and similar outdoor products.

Test setup

The tests were carried out on an L-3200 laser cutting machine with a Conveyor for automated roll processing. With a laser output of 40–100 W, the focus was on precise, residue-free cuts with fused edges – without damaging or contaminating the coated surface.

Result

The INFINITY and MAX materials showed excellent results in the laser test. The cut edges were smooth, sealed and free from residue or discolouration. Even fine contours and tight radii could be implemented precisely without overcuts. Overall, we can give a clear recommendation for laser processing of the INFINITY and MAX materials.

Advantages

Precise corners without start marks or overcuts.

Smooth, fused cut edges without post-processing.

No residue or contamination marks.

Maximum precision and consistently high cut quality over time.

Automated processing directly from the roll.
