Silverlining Furniture, UK
From concept to installation
Founded in 1985 and headquartered in North Wales, Silverlining Furniture works closely with private clients, interior designers and architectural practices around the world. From the initial design concept through to final installation, all stages of the process are carried out in-house. This enables the company to maintain complete control over quality and attention to detail throughout every phase of a project. A dedicated research and development team continuously advances the use of natural materials, as well as new surface finishes and manufacturing techniques, combining traditional craftsmanship with innovative production methods to create exceptional design solutions.
Precision laser cutting for marquetry work
Far more than traditional woodworking
For its marquetry work, the company combines wood veneers of different species, thicknesses and grain patterns with carefully selected materials such as mother-of-pearl, gold leaf, straw, leather, cork and metallised resins. This results in bespoke patterns and complex material compositions that extend far beyond traditional wood marquetry. These creative design possibilities are realised both in exclusive client projects and in the limited-edition design objects produced by the company’s in-house SL Studio, where the boundaries between furniture making and art objects are deliberately blurred.
Challenge of Silverlining Furniture
Increasing demands for quality and flexibility
Silverlining’s exacting quality standards are reflected in every detail of its veneer work. Over time, however, it became clear that the previously used laser machine could no longer fully meet the growing demands of production. Burn marks, particularly on light-coloured materials, resulted in additional finishing work and affected the desired cutting quality. In addition, outdated software and limited processing capabilities made efficient workflows more difficult. After more than 10,000 operating hours, the performance of the laser source had also begun to decline noticeably. A solution was therefore required that would safeguard the company’s high manufacturing standards in the long term while providing greater flexibility for future projects.
eurolaser solution: XL-3200 for large-format applications
Precise processing, impressive results
With the XL-3200 laser cutting machine, Silverlining has been able to further enhance its manufacturing processes. Mechanical tooling options expand the range of applications, provide greater flexibility when processing different materials and open up new opportunities for future developments and creative design concepts. The company particularly benefits from improved cutting quality and significantly reduced burn marks when working with light-coloured and sensitive materials. At the same time, manual finishing work is minimised, resulting in higher processing quality and more efficient production workflows.
With the eurolaser solution, we were able to further optimise our production processes. The enhanced processing capabilities provide greater flexibility in material processing, improve the quality of the results and open up new creative possibilities for future projects.
