Laser cutting of polyurethane foam
Material
INDUCON® is a high-quality compressed foam made from densified flexible polyurethane foam with a fine-cell structure. The material is pressure-elastic, dimensionally stable, durable and abrasion-resistant. It is used in the automotive industry, logistics, electronics and mechanical engineering, for example as seals, spacers, carriers for adhesive solutions or for protecting sensitive components. INDUCON® stands out for its high dimensional accuracy, good processability and reliable performance under load.
Test setup
INDUCON® was tested on a eurolaser XL-1600 laser cutting machine with a 400 W CO₂ laser. The objective was precise, clean cutting of the compressed PUR foam with consistently high cutting quality.
Result
All tested INDUCON® variants achieved excellent results in the laser test. The CO₂ laser produced perfect cut edges without the need for post-processing. Even fine, radius-free contours could be implemented with high precision. Engravings for marking can be carried out in the same processing step.
