What exactly is produced?

Material diversity in component manufacturing

The company manufactures a wide range of different components for vehicle interiors and adjacent areas. These include, among others, airbag nets, retaining straps, parcel shelves, armrests, centre armrests and gear shift gaiters. The portfolio is complemented by textile reinforcement fabrics as well as components made of textile, synthetic leather and leather for various applications in vehicles. Depending on the application, a variety of technical materials are used, including polyester (PES), polyamide (PA), aramid (PPTA), polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and copper nonwoven.

Laser cutting in manufacturing

Fast and reliable processing

For selected applications, Köstler GmbH relies on laser cutting. This is used to manufacture, among other things, airbag hinges, reinforcement fabrics and test templates. The technology enables fast and reliable processing of a wide range of materials – even with complex contours. At the same time, its use ensures a higher degree of automation and efficient implementation in production.

Köstler’s challenges

Requirements for precise and flexible manufacturing

With increasing demands in the automotive industry, the requirements for precision, quality and flexibility in manufacturing also grew. Many components were initially produced using conventional stamping processes. However, particularly in the case of complex geometries and changing requirements, it became clear that this technology was reaching its limits. The use of stamping tools involved additional effort and restricted flexibility in production.

Precision and quality at high speed

With the introduction of the L-1200 laser cutting machine from eurolaser, manufacturing processes were further optimised. The use of the machine significantly improves precision, quality and speed in processing. By partially eliminating the need for stamping tools, processes can be designed more cost-effectively. In combination with additional features such as the Label Module and the Ink Printer Module, a higher degree of automation has also been achieved.

With eurolaser, we benefit from high speed and reliability in our processes. At the same time, we have significantly increased our level of automation and can efficiently and cost-effectively handle larger order volumes.
