Laser cutting of neoprene

eurolaser systems are ideally suited for cutting polychloroprene

Many people are familiar with Neoprene from water sports clothing, the thermally insulating wetsuit. However, the material is actually called chloroprene rubber or polychloroprene and has many uses. It is used, for example, in the automotive industry or medical technology. Large-format laser systems are ideal for cutting Neoprene. In particular, the non-contact and thus also distortion-free cutting is a major argument in favour of eurolaser cutting systems.

What are the advantages of laser cutting Neoprene?

  • Smooth, slightly fused cut edges
  • No material distortion due to non-contact machining
  • Precise cutting of very filigree details
  • Laser engravings for marking
  • No tool wear for consistently high cutting quality
  • Fast cutting speed

What additional benefits do eurolaser cutting systems have when processing Neoprene:

  • Less waste due to Nesting Software
  • Data transfer and transmission of external data of other system provider through flexible Software
    packages without any problems
  • Conveyor System for the fully automated laser processing directly from the roll
  • Winding unit for the rolling up of already existing textiles
  • Unique variety of table sizes – suitable for many formats
  • Processing of very big formats by burr-free continuation of cutting
  • Combined processing - possible just on one machine through CO2 laser and Knife
  • Different marking functions
  • Camera recognition for the laser cutting of printed fabrics

Material information for laser cutting and engraving Neoprene:

Various terms are used for the material polychloroprene. The most common is Neoprene or Neoprene rubber. Polychloroprene is a synthetic rubber and is produced by the polymerisation of chloroprene, which is why the term chloroprene rubber is also used, but also chlorobutadiene rubber. The material is very resistant to weathering and the influence of ozone. It also has good chemical resistance and is characterised by a certain flame resistance. It is therefore used in the automotive industry, medical technology, clothing industry or as a seal.
