Laser cutting and routing of PET-G

Combine the advantages of two processing methods

PETG sheets are similar in appearance to acrylic glass but they have different properties. PETG, for example, is a lot more stable or resistant, although this also makes laser processing more complex. Typical areas of application for PETG include technical glazing, shop fittings and exhibition stand construction, furniture, protective housings and displays. The special feature of our sample is the groove around the edge that was milled with the parallel mounted milling module. The screw holes and outer contour were cut with laser.

Benefits of eurolaser technology

  • Can be cut and engraved extremely well with CO2 lasers
  • Smooth cutting edges even in filigree contours with no reworking
  • Processing with protective foil possible
  • Chipless laser cutting and engraving
  • No tool wear or tool changeover
  • No clamping or fixing necessary with laser cutting
  • High degree of repeatability and consistent quality
  • Practically radius free laser cutting of inner contours in all thicknesses

Material information

Polyethylene terephthalate with glycol (PETG) is a thermoplastic resin of the polyester family. CO2-lasers from eurolaser achieve excellent results in the cutting and marking of this flame and chemical-resistant, durable and virtually unbreakable material. PET/ PETG are used for protective machine devices, glazing, in shop and exhibition stand construction and in the furniture sector.
