Exclusive designer spectacle case made of wood

Making plywood pliable with a laser

Using this product example we will show you how an exclusive spectacle case can be made from wood. The natural wood surface ensures an elegant and high-quality design that is a real eye-catcher.
The special feature of the case is the curved wooden board. This is formed by means of a very fine filigree pattern cut by laser. After this the plywood is so pliant it can be rolled up. A protective textile lining can also be cut on the laser system.

What are the advantages of cutting plywood with laser?

  • Creation of pliability by means of a filigree pattern
  • Finest details without any material breakage
  • Minimum waste thanks to contact-free laser cutting
  • Burr-free cut edges with virtually no discolouring
  • No chipping during laser cutting

How is pliability achieved through laser cutting?

A clever cutting pattern, which can only be cut so finely with laser, results in the rigid plywood board being rendered pliable. The delicate material becomes so flexible that you can actually roll it up without breaking it. Sticking it to the side parts provides extra stability.
