Further information on the collaboration with eurolaser
eurolaser tested the following materials from Brett Martin on the laser cutting machines:
Laser test: Marcryl FS
Laserschneiden von hochwertigen Acrylplatten
Material
Marcryl FS is a high-quality, glossy acrylic material from the Brett Martin brand. It offers high light transmission, UV resistance and impact strength – at only half the weight of glass. Thanks to its good thermoformability and surface hardness, Marcryl is ideally suited for printing and display applications, advertising materials, interior fit-outs and glazing. Available in various formats, thicknesses and colours.
Test setup
Marcryl FS was tested in the eurolaser application laboratory on an M-800 laser cutting machine with a 200 W CO₂ laser and Shuttle Table System. The aim was to evaluate cutting quality and material behaviour under laser processing.
Result
Marcryl FS is excellently suitable for laser processing. The CO₂ laser achieved smooth, clear cut edges and precise contours – even with fine details. The contact-free cutting process prevents stress cracking, breakage or material wear. Compared to mechanical methods, laser cutting offers greater flexibility, no chips and minimised waste. Engraving is also possible as an option.
Benefits
Smooth and clear cut edges, without any post-processing.
Fine details and almost radius-free internal contours.
Cutting and engraving in a single operation.
Non-contact processing, without chips.
Consistently high cutting accuracy and quality.
Laser test: Marlon FS
Laser cutting of polycarbonate sheets
Material
Marlon FS is a polycarbonate plastic sheet. The material impresses with high impact resistance, UV resistance and very good light transmission. It is ideally suited for weather-resistant glazing – e.g. in stadiums, greenhouses, canopies or conservatories – thanks to its low weight, high stability and good thermal insulation.
Test setup
In the eurolaser application laboratory, the polycarbonate sheets were tested on the M-800 cutting machine with a 200 W CO₂ laser and Shuttle Table System. The main focus was on evaluating the cut edge and achieving high processing volumes. The material was tested in thicknesses of 0.75 and 2.0 mm.
Result
Marlon FS could be processed precisely in the laser test with clean cut edges – even for fine details. Non-contact cutting prevents burr formation as can occur with mechanical processes. In addition, no chip material is produced, reducing cleaning effort.
Benefits
Consistently high cut quality.
No tool wear and no signs of abrasion.
Non-contact and chip-free processing.
High processing speed thanks to the automated process.

Laser test: Marpet-a FS and Marpet-g FS
Laser cutting of PETG and aPET materials
Material
Marpet® G FS (PETG) is thermoformable without pre-drying – ideal for formed applications. Marpet® A FS (aPET) is particularly suitable for flat applications and cold bending. Both materials are transparent, impact-resistant, chemically resistant and 100% recyclable. Typical fields of application include displays, protective screens, shopfitting and visual merchandising.
Test setup
Processing was carried out on a eurolaser M-800 cutting machine with a 200 W CO₂ laser and Shuttle Table System for automation. The objective was precise cutting with smooth edges and without post-processing – efficiently processed in shuttle table operation.
Result
Both materials could be cut precisely and cleanly. Laser cutting produced clear edges without burrs or burn marks. Fine details were also implemented reliably. Non-contact cutting prevents stress and tool wear – ideal for precise and clean processing.
Benefits
Clean and visually perfect cut edges.
Contactless cutting – no material fixation required.
The vacuum table supports material positioning.
Flexible selection of contours, no tool changes required.
Ideal system utilisation with Shuttle Table System.
