Inducon® in laser test

Laser Cutting of compression foam

Inducon® is a compression foam from the German company Mayser. It is a cellular polyurethane elastomer made of thermally compressed flexible foam. The unique composition and pore structure create unique material properties that are of great use for various industries.

eurolaser has now taken a closer look at Inducon®. The material was tested in the in-house application laboratory with regard to the properties during laser machining.

Benefits of cutting Inducon® with CO₂ lasers:

  • Lint-free and dust-free processing
  • Clean and sealed cut edges
  • Tool wear is very low - a knife causes increased use of material compared to laser cutting and wear would become increasingly uneconomical
  • No reworking of the edges with other tools necessary
  • Engravable - Markings can be applied directly in one single step
  • Cost reduction - further processing possible without additional testing
  • Fine, radius-free contours

Scope of application


Due to its special properties, Inducon® is mainly used in the automotive industry as well as in automation and logistics. It acts, for example, as a spacer, has an anti-slip effect, acts as a seal, filter or fluid reservoir, can be found in car interiors or serves as a carrier for adhesive tape.
