Acrylic materials are commonly used for laser engraving. Stunning pictures with impressive see-through effects can be created by engraving the backside with a mirrored design. Vector-engraving follows the contours and outlines of geometrical figures on a continous path, while Raster-engraving is rather like printing. The laser scans the image line, engraving a grid of tiny dots. Using constant laser power alters the density of the dots to create 2D images. Gray levels of the picture are translated into laser power to produce impressive 3D sculptured plies.
