The
laser's versatility makes it an important tool in the packaging industry, instrumental
in processes from samplemaking - creasing is substituted by precise ablating
of material at reduced laser power - to dieboard cutting in a variety of base
materials (multiplex, plastics).
When
quantities are too low to justify steel rule die cutting, the laser can do the
job. Combined with an
optical
recognition system, the laser is turned into a digital die-cutting system
and precise control of the laser's power lends it equally to the cut and the
kiss-cut.
