Application innovation

PET/aluminium composite material

Nowadays layered composite materials made of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) and aluminium foils are not only used successfully in the packaging industry. In the meantime such composite materials are also to be found in photovoltaic and other high-tech applications.

Despite its aluminium foil, composite packaging can be cut or scored easily, accurately and cleanly using laser. Product and packaging designers as well as the food industry with small batch production runs are today exploiting these benefits. Trial offers or changing product batches demand flexibility. On the other hand packaging technologies require precision and ease of use for the consumers. Is there anyone who has not been annoyed at some time or other when the ring on the pull-tab comes off in your hand the very first time you try it?
